My Life in 3 Songs (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates this website. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
When you register, we collect your full name, email address, date of birth, country, and optionally your city. We also collect the songs you select and any special instructions you provide. We do not collect payment information. When you visit the website, we also automatically collect limited technical information through Google Analytics — including your approximate location (city or region level), device type, browser, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and how long you stay. This information is used in aggregate to understand how the site is being used and is described further in Section 7.
Your information is used solely to provide the My Life in 3 Songs service — specifically to store your funeral song preferences and allow authorised lookups by people who know your email address and date of birth. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your song choices, name, date of birth, and location are visible to anyone who enters your registered email address and date of birth on the lookup page. This is a deliberate feature of the service. By registering, you consent to this lookup functionality. You should only register an email address that you are comfortable sharing with trusted individuals.
Your data is stored on secure servers. As a global service, your data may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, including New Zealand, where the operator is based. Where data is transferred internationally, we take appropriate steps to ensure it remains protected in accordance with this policy. By using the service, you consent to your data being stored and processed in the countries where our service infrastructure operates.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can update your details via the “Edit My Details” section when logged in, or permanently delete your account from the same section. To request data deletion by email, contact us via the Support page. Depending on your country, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law — including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, or equivalent legislation in your jurisdiction. We will honour all valid requests in accordance with applicable law.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device that allow it to recognise returning visitors and track which pages are viewed during a session. The data collected includes your approximate geographic location (derived from your IP address but not stored at full resolution), device and browser information, referring website, and pages visited. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising purposes, and we have not enabled Google Signals or cross-device tracking. Data collected through Google Analytics is retained for 14 months. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using your browser’s “Do Not Track” settings or built-in tracking protections.
We embed music previews from Apple Music. When you interact with an Apple Music player, Apple’s own privacy policy applies. We do not control what data Apple may collect through their embedded player. Please review Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.
My Life in 3 Songs is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service following changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us via our Support page.

Last updated: May 2025. Please read these terms carefully before using My Life in 3 Songs.
By creating an account and using My Life in 3 Songs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service regardless of where in the world you are located. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the service.
My Life in 3 Songs provides a platform for individuals to record their funeral song preferences for the benefit of their loved ones. The service allows registered users to store up to three song choices (Entrance Music, Reflection Music, and Exit Music) alongside special instructions, and allows others to look up those preferences using the user’s email address and date of birth. The service is available worldwide.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use this service. In jurisdictions where the minimum age for online services is higher (for example, 16 in some European countries), you must meet that higher age requirement. By registering, you confirm that you meet the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction. If you are under 18, you should have parental or guardian consent before registering.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account. You agree to provide accurate and truthful information when registering. You must use an email address that you own and have access to. You may not register on behalf of another person without their explicit consent.
Any special instructions or notes you submit must not contain content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable under the laws of any applicable jurisdiction. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms. Song selections must be genuine musical works. We do not verify the accuracy of song information you provide.
The lookup feature is intended to be used by people who legitimately need to access a registered user’s funeral song preferences — for example, family members or funeral directors. You must not use the lookup feature to harvest personal data or for any purpose other than its intended use. Automated or bulk lookups are prohibited.
My Life in 3 Songs does not host any music files. Song previews are provided by Apple Music under their own licensing arrangements. We make no claim to ownership of any musical works referenced on the platform. Users are responsible for ensuring any music played at a funeral service complies with applicable music licensing requirements in their country. This may include organisations such as OneMusic (New Zealand and Australia), PRS for Music (United Kingdom), ASCAP / BMI / SESAC (United States), SOCAN (Canada), or the relevant collecting society in your territory.
My Life in 3 Songs is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to data loss, inaccurate song information, or inability to access the service. The service is provided in good faith but is not a legally binding end-of-life document and should not replace formal estate planning documents such as a will or advance directive. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of your jurisdiction.
You may delete your account at any time via the “Edit My Details” section when logged in. Upon deletion, all your personal data and song preferences will be permanently removed from the service. You may also request deletion by contacting us via the Support page.
We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. Where changes are material, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will update the date at the top of this page whenever changes are made.
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, where the operator of this service is based. However, if you are located in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws that provide you with additional rights, those rights are not excluded by these terms. We will always endeavour to resolve disputes informally in the first instance — please contact us via the Support page before pursuing any formal action. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit any rights you have under the laws of your own country that cannot be contractually waived.
These terms are written in English. Where a translated version is provided for convenience, the English version shall prevail in the event of any conflict. We aim to make the service accessible to users worldwide and welcome feedback on any accessibility concerns via our Support page.
